As we move on into 2019 we wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the highlights from 2018 at Hill Engineering. Also, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of our customers, collaborators, and supporters. We couldn’t do this without you.
Technological innovation is critical to Hill Engineering’s success and we made a lot of significant advancements in 2018. We released the first commercial version of our Broad Application for Modeling Failure software for fatigue analysis, and we already have a handful of users who have adopted this enabling technology. We developed an improved version of our ERS-toolbox® software.
In addition, we added new equipment in our laboratory to support residual stress measurements. This includes a new scanning profilometer that has significantly improved the speed, quality, and capability of our contour method measurements. We have also developed improved estimates of uncertainty for our residual stress measurements.
We accepted a lot of new and challenging projects in 2018 and we look forward to sharing some of the important results as they are released. This past year, we spent a lot of time working to advance the state-of-the-art with respect to quality management of residual stress in manufacturing. We completed a large number of residual stress measurements, demonstrated our measurement technology inside of a production plant, and developed some draft industry standards.
We received a lot of positive feedback from our customers, which is always nice to hear. For instance one customer remarked “your willingness to accept our challenge to develop this method and your continual, persistent improvements to mature the capability moved these measurements from a ‘wish we could have’ to ‘critical’ throughout our experimental campaign.” That is quite a compliment and goes back to our core personality traits as an organization where we strive to be responsive and tenacious.
We are working hard to connect with our fans on social media and other digital means. If you haven’t already done so, please consider following Hill Engineering on your favorite social media platform for regular updates (Facebook: hillengineeringllc, Twitter: hill_eng, Instagram: hillengineeringllc). We also launched a Hill Engineering YouTube channel during 2018 which now features three videos (with more to come in 2019).
We added four new people to our growing team in 2018 including: Jason, Brent, Brandt, and George. They are all having a very positive impact.
Thank you 2018! We are all excited for what 2019 has to offer and 2019 marks our 15th year in business!
