As we move into 2020, we wanted to reflect on some of the highlights from the past year at Hill Engineering. We’d also like to take a moment to say thank you to all of our customers, collaborators, and supporters. We couldn’t do this without you.
Technological innovation is critical to Hill Engineering’s success, and we made a lot of significant advancements this year. In 2019, we:
- added new 3D scanning capability to our laboratory
- signed an agreement with VEQTER to license their Deep Hole Drilling capability
- published a method to quantify uncertainty for slitting method measurements
- improved our capability in process modeling, including processes like cold hole expansion, machining, and quenching.
On the software front we’ve seen a lot of activity. We released new versions of our ERS-Toolbox® and BAMF software, with added new features we’re especially excited about.
In 2019, we accepted several new and challenging projects, including the development of a smart maintenance system and first article inspection residual stress measurements for aluminum forgings.
In the second half of 2018, we launched a new expedited laboratory testing service called ExpressRS®. With this service we provide our customers with the option to complete testing in a small fraction of the regular delivery timeframe – typically less than one week. ExpressRS® has been quick to catch on, and 2019 saw a rise in demand for the service.
We’re working hard to connect with our fans on social media and other digital means. During 2019, we achieved some significant milestones, including our 100th blog post and our first 1,000+ view video on YouTube. If you haven’t already done so, please consider following Hill Engineering on your favorite social media platform for regular updates (Facebook: hillengineeringllc, Twitter: hill_eng, Instagram: hillengineeringllc, and YouTube).
Our ISO 17025 certified Quality System, continues to evolve and improve. We updated our quality system to be compliant with the latest ISO 17025 revision during the year (ISO 17025:2017) and were recently re-accredited to that standard.
The Hill Engineering team has also expanded. We added three new people in 2019 including: Renan, John, and Dallen. They’ve all had a very positive impact on our success.
Outside of work, we shared a lot of fun times together. Our social committee planned numerous events including an escape room adventure, a Jazz basketball game, and the always popular board game nights and holiday parties. We held our first Hill Engineering golf championship, which had an exciting finish. Thursday night video games continue to be a big hit. We managed to fit in another camping trip. Axes & Alloys stayed busy by playing over 10 shows. And Team Hill Engineering won the Sacramento Adventure Hunt.
Thank you 2019! We are all excited for what 2020 has to offer!
