Ten Years of Robby

We’ve got another 10-year milestone here at Hill Engineering, and this time it’s mine!

Recently, we posted a blog celebrating the 10-year “Hillaversary” for Eric Summer, a valued member of our R&D department. Not six months later during that fateful year of 2014, I began my own journey at the global leader for residual stress measurement testing.

Back then, my role focused on running residual stress measurements in our laboratory, using techniques like the contour method, hole drilling, the slitting method, and one of the very first semi-automated slotting method measurements. It was hands-on work that introduced me to the technical side of what we do here.

Over time, my responsibilities have shifted. While I still work with the contour method, my focus is now primarily on data analysis rather than physical measurements. Diving into the data offers its own challenges and rewards—it’s satisfying to make sense of complex results and see how they can be applied. In addition to my technical work, I’m also involved in Hill Engineering’s social media and digital marketing team, which lets me flex some creative muscles while keeping our online followers up-to-date on Hill Engineering happenings.

In a modern job market with a lot of constant shuffling, it’s not just my love of manufactured materials that has kept me at Hill Engineering for over a decade. It’s the company culture! The HE team is genuinely personable and easy to work with. It’s a collaborative environment where people are supportive and willing to help, and that’s been a big part of my experience here.

Looking back toward that winter morning ten years past, it’s been a fulfilling journey. I’ve had the chance to grow in my role, take on new challenges, and contribute in ways I didn’t expect when I first started. I’m happy to celebrate my ten-year “Hillaversary” and can’t wait to see what the next ten bring.
