Hill Engineering loves board games: A social events recap

The summer season is in full swing and this year has already been full of social events for the Hill Engineering team. When we’re not performing one of the many residual stress measurement techniques in our arsenal, our employees have been able to unwind after work and attend one of the handful of activities our social events committee has organized.

Over the years, Hill Engineering’s employees have enjoyed many different social events. From board games night to camping to pool parties, we’ve done it all. One event we come back to time and time again, even multiple times throughout the year, is an after-work board games night. Employees are welcome to come and bring their families and favorite games from home to play with the group, enjoy some good food, and play games that might or might not be familiar.

This year, we’ve gotten the chance to play a game called Concept, in which players are trying to guess a secret word or phrase based on pictorial clues given by the card holder. Some words are easy, like “bee”, but for more points, the card holder can try to have their teammates guess more abstract phrases, such as “armed to the teeth.” Did we mention the card holder can’t say anything while providing clues? It sure adds a level of difficulty to this game, but the group has fun trying to decipher the clues and guess the right thing.

Earlier this summer featured the return of the Hill Engineering Pool Party, which was the perfect opportunity to beat the heat in the Sacramento area. Not a whole lot can beat the feeling of jumping into a pool to cool off from the sun’s rays.

A new event this year was a trivia night at a local brewery, where our team placed in the top three, earning them a prize. Way to go, Team Hill Engineering!

We have more events coming up later this year, but that’s all for now. Until then, make it happen!
