Hill Engineering shares hosting duties with RTX for short courses this Fall

Later this year, RTX and Hill Engineering will each be hosting small groups of engineers from the other’s organization to provide experiential training courses to give additional insight into the work each does and the impact on engineered products. We look forward to meeting with everyone in the coming months. Below are short descriptions of the course objectives from both groups.

Hill Engineering presents “Residual Stress 101”:

Residual stress fields in materials affect the manufacturing and performance of mechanical components. This training introduces residual stress concepts as well as technologies used to understand and account for residual stress effects. Classroom instruction, tours, and hands-on training will give students first-hand experience of what it is like for our residual stress engineers performing measurements in the laboratory.

Pratt & Whitney/RTX presents “Turbines 101”:

Course is designed to provide a background on turbine engine systems and the required technologies that enable effective and efficient propulsion to aircraft of all types. Students will learn about the history and evolution of system architecture and the key role that materials and manufacturing processes have in this complex engineered system. In addition to classroom type instruction, tours will be conducted to allow students to see first-hand the components that go into turbine engines and how they are assembled.
