2017 Highlights at Hill Engineering

This past year was another successful one for Hill Engineering. We have accomplished so much and we wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the highlights.

The year 2017 started off fast. In response to increased workload for our structural integrity services we opened our first satellite office in Layton, UT in March. Our team in Utah is doing a fantastic job supporting the United States Air Force A-10 and T-38 fleets (and others).

The Prime Room dedication in September was a lot of fun. Mike Prime has had such a large impact on Hill Engineering and it was great that we were able to honor him with a dedication ceremony. He was very touched by the celebration.

Staying on the forefront of advanced technology is critical to our success as an organization, and we made many significant technological advancements this year in key areas like residual stress measurement and fatigue analysis. On the residual stress measurement front we have developed the TrueSlot® technique for near-surface residual stress measurement and have developed PSR-biaxial mapping for 2D mapping of multiple bulk residual stress components. Both of these techniques are important complements to our existing residual stress measurement tool-set. On the fatigue analysis side we are working to release the first commercial version of our in-house fatigue crack growth software in early 2018. Please stay tuned for updates.

We have accepted a lot of new and challenging projects in 2017. We have considerably increased our capacity and are working with a number of new clients.

Ultimately the people are what make Hill Engineering unique. We added seven new people to our growing team in 2017 including: Ryan, Fue, Josh, Bond, Bruce, Doug, and Heidi.

Thank you 2017 (Hill Engineering’s 13th year). We are all excited for what 2018 has to offer.
